procrastination. my middle name.

okay, by now I actually do miss you all. A LOT.

it's now been over 2 months in Western Australia (actually, nearly 2 and a half). specifically, in Fremantle (or "Freo" :)). every time I go out of the house at night to run, I think - 'I really need to write my blog'. because I need to tell them all about the amazing sunsets in WA. there really are some fantastic ones. and then even after the sun disappears from the horizon, left is this beautiful layer of rich sapphire blue (the water) meeting a layer of deep, firey orange (the sky). and no matter what type of sunset, the ending is always like that - vivid blue & orange. it's just a fantastic combination that almost tugs at your heart strings looking at it and knowing it's all natural, and there for anyone's enjoyment.
tonight when I went out, rather than running I decided I would take a long walk along the looooong beach, barefoot with the late afternoon sun against my back, and then on the way back, be walking into the 5pm-ish sunset and taking it all in..... but I was a little late, so I just sat & watched it for a bit, and then starting walking, away from the sunset............. only to run into a dolphin fin about 3 feet off the water that was lapping on the sand of the beach. it was AMAZING. a.maze.ing. the fantastic, peaceful creature was just SO CLOSE. it was a pretty unbelieveable moment. there were a few people standing by watching (which is why I had taken note in the first place), but just a few people, not a big crowd, so it was quite special. we were some lucky people. I heard the English guy beside me say that in his 4 1/2 years in Fremantle, he had never seen anything like it.

anyway, I just wanted to tell everyone I am fine, I am still alive, I am still in Oz, and I am still I guess you could say, adventuring. however, since the end of my 1st month in Freo, I have been fairly lonely, and not really feeling like I'm taking in all that much. although it's been a good time to have alone to think, it's made me miss home and particular special people there a lot. see because I moved into a house right away when I got to town, I never had a chance to meet anyone the way you do when you stay in a hostel. I do work 2 jobs in town, so you'd think I'd be able to find 'friends' there, but unfortunately there aren't a whole lot of people who are looking for more friends (ie. someone I could leech onto to hang out with!). There's a couple I've gone for the occasional drink with, so at least that's something. but yep, been a little bit anti-social, not gonna lie.

on the contrary though, my first month in Freo was fantastic, all thanks to Ben. who is Ben you ask? well I met Ben in Byron in December, and we had a special connection. me, having become more in touch with who I am and increasing my intuition, judging who is real and knowing what's important in life and basically becoming more spiritual in the last year or so, I knew pretty quickly after meeting that there was something special about him and the way we were together. he, on the other hand, probably just thought we had an unusual amount of things in common and was enthralled by my beauty, personality and sense of humour. anyway we kept in touch frequently after he left Byron, as friends, and when I had decided back in January to go to Western Australia as the 'next destination', I knew lots of time would be spent hanging out with Ben, as he would be in Perth at the time I was going, finishing off his Oz trip, and was a very special guy. I won't give details, since this is public after all!, but let's just say Ben is officially my first looooooove (yep, I said it) since Cliff. Easter weekend was a SAD weekend when Ben had to go home to England. which is where he is now, and that's where that story ends.................for now. ;-)

oh yes, and as for my jobs, I work an Italian restaurant at night on weekends, and a cafe Tues-Fri days. so I've put in a good effort to save some money while I've been here. which was the plan. I've also made a very good contact thru the Italian restaurant....an entrepreuner in the food industry. Dennis is an Australian who became an executive chef at 19, and now at about age 40-ish, has an impressive resume of chefing, restaurant/cafe ownership, re-modeling & investing, the creation of hospitality brands (including names, logos & concepts), and consulting on restaurant openings in India, Asia and New Zealand. since I have been thinking a lot about opening a business around food for quite some time, and most signifcantly since Ben left Fremantle, I think it's no coincidence that I've met this person who is willing to give his knowledge and be a mentor to someone he sees potential in who could use the help... some would say it is a concidence, but might at the same time think it's a bit weird that Dennis was once married to a Coquitlam woman (they married at Vancouver Golf Course, about 5 blocks from 667 Colinet Street, in 1993) and still has a daughter living in Coquitlam. Hmmmmm.......

anyway, next I plan to leave Perth within a couple weeks (by Jun 15 ideally) and travel north, up the West Coast, to Broome, and then onto Darwin. the west coast oz road trip is supposed to be one of the best experiences to have in Australia. it's just so different from the East Coast in terms of the landscape. some amazing scenes and experiences await me. and I'm ready for them! bring it on.
